Ms. Barbara Wilson
Family and Consumer Sciences Education empowers individuals and families across the lifespan to manage the challenge of living and working in a diverse, global society. The discipline's unique focus is on families, careers, communities and their interrelationships.
Preparatory level classes in Family and Consumer Science courses at SAS include Family Health, Foods and Nutrition, and other life management courses. Credits earned in these areas fulfill the Health and Occupational Education requirement needed to earn a high school diploma. Students learn important decision-making skills through cooperative learning, creative and critical thinking, and are provided opportunities for exploring the Health and Human and Service Pathway through leadership activities. Taught within an integrated curriculum, students develop a foundation in the areas of social services, hospitality/food services, and health-related careers.
Students may also enroll in AP Psychology and earn two college credits through Central Washington University's Civic Engagement Course.
Barbara Wilson earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Washington University where she majored in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Child Development. She then obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Teaching with an emphasis in Curriculum Design.
